Minister for Disabled Children

Since Emily was born, We as a family, like so many in our community, have thrown ourselves into many campaigns to make life fairer, decent and accessible for our children.

Now is the Time.

In 2018 we headed SCOPEs campaign to petition for a minister for disabled children and families. This involved a great deal of media work, both live TV, Radio and print. We raised over 40,000 signatures and presented it to 10 Downing Street.

A minister for Disabled Children is imperative. Families are often isolated, left without direction and unaware of the benefits available to them to support their lives.

Brexit

I have been heavily involved in the No-Deal implications, specifically the worry of a medication shortage.

Changing Places

We also campaign heavily for the installation of Changing Places around the country. There are at present less than 1100 decent disabled toilets in the UK. Lack of decent toileting for disabled people leads to families staying at home, becoming isolated, NO social activity whatsoever.  we staged a Loo-a-thon on Baker Street in London to highlight the need for cleaner, better-realized toilets for the disabled

Playgrounds

We launched a campaign to make ALL playgrounds locally accessible for ALL children.

As a result of our media campaign, all the playgrounds locally are having all the entrances retrofitted for disability access with plans afoot for the play equipment to be multi-use.
